Essex Lions Club |
The Essex Lions Club is proud to have served the Town of Essex for over 50 years. During this past year, in keeping with the Lions Club’s support of vision-related organizations, contributions were made to the CT Lion’s Eye Research Center, Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation, and the CT Low Vision Center. We also paid for eye exams and eyeglasses for Essex residents who could not afford them. During the past year, the Club made substantial donations to the Essex and Ivoryton libraries, the Essex Fire Department, and the Essex Ambulance-Association as well as donations to the Shoreline Soup Kitchen and the Tri-Town Youth Service Bureau. One special project this year has been to help the Ivoryton Playhouse with their new sound system.
During the year, we hold three major fundraisers. The always-popular Essex Lions Lobster Bake will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023, 2:30 -7:00 p.m., RAIN OR SHINE!; We have our annual Thomas the Tank Engine concession at Valley Railroad; and finally, we send out the Essex Eye Research Letter to the community and, as always, get an excellent response. The Club looks forward to another year of service, and would like to thank all who generously donate in many ways to help us in our continued efforts to support our community.
The Essex Lions Club meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month at 7 PM at Ivoryton Tavern. The Club does not meet during the months of July and August.

Essex Lions Club Bio |
The Essex Lions Club was chartered in 1950 by a group of men with a unified vision of “serving their community. Fifty-six years later the world has changed. Our country, our state, and our town reflect those changes in so many ways. However, our desire to serve our community is as strong today as it ever was. Today’s members make up a unique group of Lions. They represent all walks of life and their professions are as diverse as the members themselves. Among us we have general contractors, doctors, an orthodontist, educators, a realtor, judges, local business owners, retirees, and the list goes on. All are valuable members of our community who are pleased to represent the Lions motto, “We Serve.?
